The location of the Land Forces Command Headquarters Building was known as Ali Şan Bey's Farm before the construction. (Ali Şan Bey was martyred by Armenian gangs along with his family members in Ankara in 1919.)
The construction of the old three-storey section in the north-south direction of the Headquarters started in 1932, together with the similar building to the south of İsmet İnönü Boulevard (Eskişehir Road), and the construction of both buildings was completed in 1937 and began to be used as a reserve officer school. Infantry reserve officer candidates were accommodated in the building in the south of İsmet İnönü Boulevard, and reserve officer candidates of other branches were accommodated in the building in the north, which is currently used as part of the Land Forces Headquarters.
This Building was respectively used as;
Reserve Officer School (Reserve Officer Candidates other than Infantry Branch) from 1937 to 1941
War College from 1941 to 1946
Reserve Officer School (Reserve Officer Candidates other than Infantry Branch) from 1946 to 1953
Gülhane Military Hospital from 1953 to 1972
Land Forces Headquarters in 1972 (Land Forces Command used the north-facing section of the former building of the Ministry of National Defense as headquarters from 1949 until 1972, when it was established during the Republican Era of Türkiye.)
In 1979, the construction of the new two-storey command post and 9-storey headquarters sections of the Land Forces Command Headquarters started.
On 20 December 1985, the new section of the Headquarters, built with a facade parallel to İsmet İnönü Boulevard (Eskişehir Road), was completed and put into service.
