GENERAL METIN TOKEL WAS BORN IN 1961 IN GÜMÜŞHANE.

HE GRADUATED FROM KULELI MILITARY HIGH SCHOOL IN 1979, AND

TURKISH MILITARY ACADEMY AS AN ARTILLERY OFFICER IN 1983.

AFTER HIS GRADUATION FROM ARTILLERY AND MISSILE SCHOOL IN 1984, HE SERVED AS;

FORWARD OBSERVER OFFICER AT THE 9TH INFANTRY DIVISION ARTILLERY REGIMENTAL COMMAND BASED IN KARS/SARIKAMIŞ FROM 1984 TO 1987,

MOTOR OFFICER AND COMPANY COMMANDER AT THE 66TH MECHANIZED INFANTRY DIVISION ARTILLERY REGIMENTAL COMMAND BASED IN İSTANBUL FROM 1987 TO 1989,

HEADQUARTERS PLATOON COMMANDER AND BATTERY COMMANDER AT 26TH ARMORED BRIGADE ARTILLERY REGIMENTAL COMMAND BASED IN İSTANBUL/HASDAL FROM 1989 TO 1993.

Symposium

Land Forces Commander, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu attended the Mediterranean Land Forces Commanders Symposium held in Toulon, France, on 1-2 June 2025 with the participation of the Land Forces Commanders and representatives of 15 countries neighboring the Mediterranean.

The first session of the symposium, held on the Charles De Gaulle Aircraft Carrier, discussed the future of the Mediterranean, operational preparations, and cooperation in the next 10 years while the second session focused on hybrid and cyber threats and cooperation against these threats.

General Bayraktaroğlu held bilateral meetings with the following participants of the symposium regarding regional security and military cooperation: Gen. Pierre Schill of the French Army, Gen. Fernando Amador Ensenat Y Berea of the Spanish Army, Gen. Eduardo Manuel Braga Da Crus Mendes Ferrao of the Portuguese Land Forces, Lt. Gen. Georgios Kostidis of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ghoul of the Tunisian Land Forces, Lt. Gen. Saddam Hafter of the Libyan National Army, Maj. Gen. Khalifah Salem Ghribril Al-Fithori of the Libyan Armed Forces, Brig. Gen. Clinton O’neıll of the Land Forces of Malta, and Maj. Gen. Ossama Mohamed Salah Naga, representative of the Egyptian Land Forces. He also visited the Turkish Embassy in Paris as part of the program.
